Each Trips For Kids chapter is an independently operated non-profit organization, based on the Trips For Kids Marin model program. Each chapter has its own non-profit status and its own board of directors, does its own fundraising and finds it own volunteers. Each chapter has agreed to create a program that adheres to our mission statement. However, we understand that each community is different and therefore Trips For Kids chapters are encouraged to develop a program that best suits their community's needs. For example, Trips For Kids Marin serves a large number of kids who usually attend one or two rides for the year. In Shiprock, New Mexico, the chapter is located on the Navajo Nation and focuses on a smaller group of kids that go on many rides throughout the year and also learn bike maintenance skills. Trips For Kids Dunkirk, in upstate New York, is part of a pregnancy prevention program for teens, where mountain biking is taught as a life long sport that these young people can benefit from for years to come.
