In addition to donations received from our sponsors and start up equipment for new chapters, the following benefits are available to Trips For Kids® chapters. As noted in the trademark agreement, all chapters must contact Trips For Kids before approaching any national companies or the bike industry. We ask you to notify us so we can coordinate pitches for sponsorship to companies.
From Our Sponsors
REI: Local REI stores can be a valuable resource for volunteers, equipment, and grants. Check to see if there is a REI store near you. If there is one within 50 miles, contact their Outreach Specialist or Store Manager. (For more information on how to use REI to your benefit see Use REI to Your Benefit.)
Trek: For chapters receiving bikes from Trek, get in touch with your local Trek dealer. Talk to them about ways to get involved. Ask them become a local sponsor by building your bikes for free or give you ongoing bike maintenance. Set up a PR opportunity by having the kids come to their shop for a clinic, etc. Get them involved!
Park: We can order Park Tools at below wholesale cost. Contact Trips For Kids to find out how to do this. And if you're looking for information on bike repair, check out Park Tool's online repair book!
Clif Bar: All existing chapters in good standing may request one bar per child per ride for each season.
Adventure Medical Kits: Chapters in good standing are invited to replenish their first aid supply every year.
From Other Companies
Bikes and Bike Parts: As a non-profit, you can set up your own account to buy bicycle parts and equipment from J&B Importers. To get a copy of their catalog, contact Laura Fisher at 800-666-5000 ext. 231 or at lfisher@jbimporters.com. If you decide to establish an account, you will need to mail Laura proof of your 501(c)(3) status. J&B Importers' address is 11925 SW 128 Street, Miami FL 33186. Also Trips For Kids can order bikes for you at a discounted price. Contact us to learn the details. We can also help you order bikes at a discounted rate for your program from Marin Bikes. Again, contact Trips For Kids to find out how to do this.
Helmets: Contact Helmets R Us for a catalog of helmets that they sell to non-profits for six dollars or less. Call them at 253-627-2121 or email helmetsRus@spso.net. You can also ask for cool TFK helmet decals, for just $0.45 extra! A TFK logo'd helmet is a great give-away for kids. Get a local sponsor to pay for helmets and talk to Helmets R Us about getting your sponsor's logo on the helmet as well! ALSO, you can order just the helmet decals, no helmet, for $0.45. Also visit the Bicycle Safety Helmet Institute.
T-shirts: New chapters will receive 10 national t-shirts in your package of start-up equipment. If you are interested in ordering more t-shirts, there are two options. We sometimes have extra national t-shirts that you can buy from us for $5.00 each plus shipping. Alternatively, you can contact Jason Steenbergen at Ink Money Graphics and have t-shirts made with your own logo. Just mention that you are a TFK chapter and you will be treated well! You can contact Jason by phone at 530-756-3600 or at jason@inkmonkeygraphics.com.
Water bottles: If you need water bottles, call Fred at Basic Bottles on 800-655-0493. Fred also prints other items (baseball caps, mugs, pens, etc.).
Ride On
When it was time to go I was sad because I really wanted to stay and bike ride some more.
