Trips For Kids is an organization made up of volunteers! Rides Rides take place every Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Volunteers need to bring their own bike, helmet, sack lunch and water. We take a group of up to 10 inner-city youth between the ages of 10 to 17. The rides take place at China Camp State Park, Phoenix Lake or the Marin Headlands. Volunteers meet at 9:00am at the Re-Cyclery warehouse in San Rafael to load bikes into a van and then carpool out to the ride site. We supply bikes and gear for the kids. Earn-a-Bike Trips For Kids needs volunteers to help with several programs for local, low-income youth in San Rafael. We need people to help with the bicycle mechanics training that is part of the earn-a-bike program. We also need computer tutors to help with the earn-a-computer program and other volunteers to help with after school art projects and homework tutoring. All these programs take place at the Re-Cyclery warehouse at 119 Larkspur Street in San Rafael. To volunteer, call 415-455-8876 or send us an email. Re-Cyclery We need volunteers to help in our Re-Cyclery Thrift Shop at 610 Fourth Street in San Rafael. The thrift shop raises two-thirds of the funding for our programs. Volunteers can expect to help organize the shop, do repair work on bicycles, price, sort donations and help customers. To volunteer, call 415-458-2986 or send us an email. Events Each year we participate in numerous events (bicycle festivals, bike races, etc.) to both sell merchandise from our shop, thereby generating needed income, and inform people of our program.
