MARIN WELCOMES NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Trips for Kids Marin introduced Rebecca Detrich as their new Executive Director. Rebecca takes the Marin reigns from Kim Baenisch as only the third executive director in the organization’s 31-year history.

Rebecca comes to Trips for Kids Marin with two decades of non-profit program experience, which includes running the field science program at NatureBridge in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

Along with her experience as the Director of Education and School Programs at Westminster Woods in Occidental,

Rebecca has a long history of sharing her love of the outdoors with young people.

"We know that Trips for Kids Marin's board conducted an extensive search with many incredible candidates and Rebecca rose to the top of the group. Our entire team is ecstatic to work with Rebecca as she transitions into her new role. She joins an amazingly dedicated and hard working Marin team. No one can fill Kim's shoes, but we know Rebecca will blaze new trails ahead," stated Trips for Kids executive director Robert Ping.

Please help us in welcoming Rebecca to our Trips for Kids family!

CHAPTER SPOTLIGHT: RIVER RATZ CYCLING

.

Trips for Kids River Ratz Cycling was established in November 2016 in Chester, Illinois by their director Tom Welge. The chapter operates Discovery Trail Rides, free bike repair clinics with local bike shops and they also hold bike safety & helmet giveaways with their local police dept. Last year, the chapter worked with more than 130 youth in their community and their volunteers provided 120 hours in support of their programming.

When Tom was asked why he decided to form a chapter in Chester, he shared, I was looking for a way to increase athletic opportunities in our area beyond stick and ball sports. I was also looking for enrichment opportunities that would not be a financial burden for kids or their parents. While trying to get organized around creating my own kids' bike club, I came across Trips for Kids.  I met Marilyn via email and phone, and the rest is history."
