ARE YOU PLANNING FOR YOUR FALL CAMPAIGN?

School is out and summer is in full motion. Humidity high and the temperatures are rising so why on earth are we thinking of fall already? Because the early birds (and planners) get the worms AND the donors.

Historically, the time between Memorial Day and Labor Day, is also the part of the year when you may notice that several donors check-out for a few months, heading out on vacation or are involved in other activities. For those of us who work for or are part of nonprofits, these months are excellent for preparing behind the scenes for the upcoming fall campaign season. It provides time to:

  • Developing your outreach strategy and target list of potential donors for campaign
  • Research background on potential new donors
  • Determine your campaign messaging
  • Determine your communication and cultivation plans
  • Collect stories and content to support your messaging

The thought of fundraising can cause absolute shudders down people's spines, but it is a necessary part of a nonprofits life cycle. Some of you have or are already beginning to create your end of year fundraising campaign. Those of you who work with affiliates may receive a funding stream through that organization, but we know some of you also depend on various fundraising resources to maintain your programming.

If you need assistance laying out your summer plan or help with ideas, please contact Amy to schedule a call with your national team to discuss. You are not alone and we are happy to assist you.

CAPTURING MOMENTS WHEN YOU RIDE AND WRENCH

If you have a cell phone and a few seconds to spare, you may be able to capture some truly impactful images during your rides and workshops. Here is a good tip regarding lining up the best photos.

Example of Rule of Thirds

When you take photos, follow the Rule of Thirds which states than "an image is most pleasing when its subjects or regions are composed along imaginary lines which divide the image into thirds — both vertically and horizontally."

Rule of Two Thirds for both photos and videos

is all about creating the right aesthetic trade-offs.

You want your image to have a sense of balance without making the photo appear too static or busy. View following links regarding Rule of Thirds specific to: Photography and Video

Please find some good photo examples below from left to right -Trips for Kids FLIPANY (FL), Trips for Kids Tulare County (CA) and Trips for Kids Birmingham (AL).
