CYCLING ADVOCATE ON A MISSION

David's custom built solar panel trailer.

Cycling advocate David O'Neill will be embarking on a ride this summer beginning in Riverside, California across North America to New York on his electric Giant Bicycles mountain bike while also towing a special trailer that will hold his camping gear, batteries and two 160W flexible solar panels to help him recharge his e-bike along his journey. His ride kicks-off this coming Sunday, June 23 and he hopes to reach Buffalo, New York by mid-July.

David believes in green transportation and active lifestyles, and our Trips for Kids mission really resonated with him.

The goals of his trip are to help promote solar and clean energy transportation, encourage people to get out and active on their bicycles AND to help share Trips for Kid's mission.

You can learn more about David's ride on his Facebook page - David O'Neill's Solar Bike Ride Across America. David may be riding into some of our chapter's communities so don't be surprised if you hear from him during the summer. Help us cheer him on his endeavor.

Emerging Trips for Kids chapter director, Malikah Bakir

NEW CHAPTER FORMING - FULTON COUNTY (ATLANTA) GEORGIA

We are very excited to share that we have a developing chapter in Georgia - Trips for Kids Fulton County lead by Malikah Bakir. Fulton County is part of Atlanta- Sandy Springs-Roswell, GA Metropolitan.

Malikah recently started her own non-profit organization called Pedal Push Kids after reading about Trips for Kids on

Bikeflights.com and donating to their "Buck-up For Bikes" program that Trips for Kids has been designated to benefit from. Once she learned more about our organization, she knew she wanted to bring programming to her community.

"As a kid I fondly remember how my love for riding a bike just set me a blaze, I loved the freedom it gave me. I was able to get my first job and not have to worry if my parents could get me there. Because of my bike, I could visit the biggest library in my area to check out the best books. My bike even got me to the local city pool. I really believe that sharing that freedom with kids who look just like me will allow me to help make an impact on their life," Malikah shared.

Trips for Kids Fulton County plans to operate Discovery Trail Rides, Mobile Bike Clinics and Earn-A-Bike workshop. We will be partnering Malkah with her chapter mentors soon.
