TRIPS FOR KIDS CHARLOTTE HIRES NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

After a three month search, Trips for Kids Charlotte is happy to announce the promotion of Eric Supil as their new executive director. You may recognize Eric's name as he has been with the organization since 2016.

“I started as a volunteer to earn a bike and was eventually hired at the Re-Cyclery as a technician," Eric shared. In Mach 2018, Eric was promoted to Re-Cyclery Manager.

“Becoming the Executive Director of Trips for Kids Charlotte has been a long-time dream for me,” Supil explained. "Through my journey, I realized how the bicycle can change the lives of people of all ages and because of that, my own heart changed my life direction.”

Originally from the City of Charlotte, Eric honed his passion for empowering people through the bicycle back in 2010 when he worked for Bikes Not Bombs in Boston, Massachusetts. In late 2016, Eric joined the Charlotte Re-Cyclery where he found an opportunity to bring his skills and passion back home.

Dick Winters, Trips for Kids Charlotte board president and member of Trips for Kids national board shared, “When the executive director position opened, we conducted a national search, but sometimes the best choice is right before your eyes. Originally, we were all so focused on how well Eric managed and grew our Re-Cyclery that some of us missed the obvious. Our newest board member and regular Re-Cyclery volunteer suggested Eric as a candidate and after reviewing all the candidates, we voted unanimously to promote Eric based on his experience, ideas and ability to put those ideas into action. A real win for all of us at

Trips for Kids Charlotte was founded in 1999 as it's own 501c3 nonprofit, it became Trips for Kids' second chapter location and first on the east coast! Please helps us in welcoming and supporting Eric in his new role.

NEW CHAPTER LAUNCHES IN MINNESOTA

This past weekend Trips for Kids helped launched a new Minnesota chapter, Trips for Kids River City in St. Paul.

Thanks to support from the Sanneh Foundation and our partners at Zevia (zero calorie drinks), Giant Bicycles, Liv Bicycles and local Framed Bikes, our Minneapolis chapter director, Anthony Taylor officially opened a new St. Paul-based Trips for Kids River City chapter this past weekend with 25 new bikes, helmets and water bottles!

Our national executive director, Robert Alan Ping, attended the Zevia-sponsored launch party on September 15, as part of the 2019 Minneapolis Bike Tour event, along with Anthony and kids from the Twin Cities area.

Youth of all ages were able to ride a skills course and watch BMX pros do back flips on a mega jump! We will be meeting up with Zevia again at the launch of our Fulton County chapter in Atlanta, Georgia next month. More updates to come from the road!

CHAPTER SUPPORT CODE BEING RELEASED SOON!

We will be releasing the new chapter support code and the updated process during the week of September 30 so stay tuned!!!!.
