Becoming National

It’s an unprecedented time for Trips for Kids, as we celebrate 30 years of our founding chapter in Marin County, California and the first year of our National Team (a newly established 501c3 nonprofit umbrella organization).

Trips for Kids-Marin has been at the heart of expanding our network of independent chapters to communities across North America, which have now served over 200,000 kids. The success of both initiatives is the catalyst that helped launch the Trips for Kids National Team in 2017. The focus of the Trips for Kids National Team is to grow and improve our youth development programs, get kids more active and expand our network of community-based chapters.

Founded in 1988 by award-winning youth enthusiast and environmental activist, Marilyn Price, our programs provide life-changing cycling experiences that promote healthy active lifestyles, environmental awareness, and personal empowerment for kids of all communities. Trips for Kids utilizes national standards of excellence developed during our 30 years of programming that are now being consolidated by the National Team, and chapters are locally managed to ensure they meet the specific needs of the communities they serve. We have already added five chapters, including three new ones in California and Pennsylvania.

We envision a world where kids from all walks of life have the opportunity to know the joy of riding a bike and the freedom to explore the natural world on two wheels.
